August 13 marks the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, one of the three major meteor showers visible in Japan. With a new moon on the 13th and no interference from moonlight, clear skies offer particularly favourable viewing conditions. We take you to a beautiful stargazing spot not far from town. Relax with delicious sweets and drinks as you enjoy Hokkaido's night sky. This experience focuses on unwinding beneath the stars in a setting that captures the spirit of Hokkaido. We share a few simple stories about space, but do not provide detailed constellation or astronomy commentary. Tokachi's wide plains offer an almost 360-degree view of the sky, creating the feeling of a natural planetarium. Take in the vastness of the universe at your own pace. We use a laser pointer to point out stars and satellites, provide astronomical binoculars for viewing the moon, and set out outdoor beds so you can lie back comfortably. A high-performance Unistellar telescope from France lets you observe galaxies, nebulae and star clusters that are invisible to the naked eye. The telescope is unavailable when undergoing repairs or maintenance. Because we want you to enjoy a star-filled sky, the activity does not operate on days when the stars cannot be seen.
